Furikake
Have you heard of furikake?
Furikake is a dry Japanese topping that is sprinkled on top of rice.
It usually consists of a mixture of dried fish, sesame seeds, seaweeds, salt, and artificial coloring. Sometimes we put it on our rice in our lunch boxes.
Today, I made homemade furikake that didn't require any coloring or artificial flavors.
Furikake recipe
Ingredients
2/3 cup(25g) dry wakame(seaweed)
2 tbs white sesame seeds
1/2~2/3 tbs salt
Directions
1. Put the three ingredients in a mixer or earthenware mortar and mix well until wakame becomes powder. Taste it and if you need more salt, just add more.
(a little bit salty is good because we eat it on or mixed in plain white rice)
This is a basic kind of furikake. There are many different flavors.
You can also add curry spice, pepper, herbs or anything else you want to try.
