Not your typical Art Fair: Catch MaARTE at The Pen from August 11-13 2017!

"MaArte ka ba?"

The word 'maarte' is a Filipino expression about someone who is either vain, have a deep sense for fashion / make up, or even someone who talks differently in a slightly bitchy tone (lol)

But maarte takes on a whole new meaning as the Museum Foundation of the Philippines (MFPI) continues to nurture the innate talent of the Filipino artist in developing their skills and artistry.

From a simple private-sector initiative to raise funds for the National Museum, the MaArte Fair, now on its 9th edition, has evolved into an important showcase for up and coming micro-entrepreneurs and their display of world-class Filipino craftsmanship.

Of course, where else should it be held but at The Peninsula Manila, one of our best hotels in the country and an advocate for Philippine arts and culture.

With 31 exhibitors this year, a new batch of joiners are on the limelight, including Mich Araullo, TIDLG by Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, Two Chic by TC Alvarez, Cabana Workshop, Oscar Mejia Artisan Fragrances, Stockton Row, Nicole Whinsenhunt, Haute Home, Violetvine by Amarie and Filip+Inna.

All their products will be meticulously showcased at The Gallery of The Peninsula Manila within tropical living room vignettes which will allow guests on a relaxed, seamless experience when they walk through the venue.

Katrina Gonzalez, one of the event consultants, says that it will make you feel like being welcomed into the home of 31 highly celebrated Filipino craftsmen.

MaArte is open to the general public, and will run from August 11 to 13.

The hotel's setting is a perfect accompaniment to the MFPI's initiative to promote MaArte this year, and according to its head, Albert Avellana, they are relentless in their pursuit for new and exciting ways on MaArte 10.

A side event during the three-day trunk show is MaArTEA Talks - a series of conversations with select business owners to offer entrepreneurial tips and insights for the guests, along with custom Afternoon Tea services that are available at The Lobby scheduled on the entire month of August.

Custom brews are provided by two local tea merchants, who are both featured in the fair as well. Tsaa Laya rediscovers the herbal traditions of the Philippines, as well as da.u.de, another Filipino tea artisan that feature natural teas from local ingredients.

Better make a schedule for this because I heard that they are only specialty teas that will be available exclusively for the event! Now that is an afternoon tea that I look forward to having next month!
