Late Post Series: My Awesome Back-To-Back Dinner From Yabu and Ippudo Philippines
It's been months since I have last told myself this, but now I am starting to lessen my rice intake again (please believe me hahaha). The holidays have been very rewarding (since I was able to do more things during my Christmas break) and satisfying (because I ate so much food that is!). Yet, it doesn't mean that I will be skimping on non-rice dishes, just like during the time when I had a back-to-back dinner at two of my most favorite places to eat at SM Megamall: Yabu House of Katsu and Ippudo Ramen.
First off, these Mozarella sticks from Yabu, which are created with an East Asian flair by tossing these perfectly breaded and fried morsels in Japanese spices. These are best eaten as soon as it hits the table so you can get that stringy, gooey, cheesy goodness!
But the main attraction is Yabu's Menchi Katsu Burger. Yabu has actually launched their line of burgers a few weeks back but this time, they focused mainly on this dish: made with Yabu's signature Menchi Katsu, topped with shiso leaves, Japanese pickles, caramelized onion jam and spicy aioli in between a lightly toasted brioche bun.
Oh, and take note that their Menchi Katsu has that same, creamy cheese stuffing that oozes out of proportions once you bite into it. The flavors are astounding as it looks really appetizing. Now, you would think that downing a burger this big can already satisfy my hunger, but wait....because right after eating this mighty Katsu Burger, I headed down to Mega Fashion Hall and satisfied my ramen cravings as well!
I've always had a chance to try Ippudo's latest ramen concoctions whenever they launch it, so I was really excited to try the Gyokai Tonkotsu that same night.
Talk about an extra filling meal! Whew! The Gyokai Tonkotsu is perfect for those who are feeling under the weather because of Ippudo's use of a unique combination of chicken broth with bonito and shoyu flavors; as well as some green yuzukosyo pepper to add a slight heat and kick.
Oh, I just can't wait to visit these restaurants soon! I love it!
