In this post I want to share with you a really exciting Japanese themed event I'm attending in West Cork on November 10th. It's been organised by the amazing Kate from Flavour.ie. EVENT - Japanese Cookery Demo & Sake Tasting with Fiona Uyema
LOCATION - Thursday 10th November, 7.30pm @ Celtic Ross Hotel, Rosscarbery
Flavour.ie is bringing a taste of the orient to West Cork with a special Japanese cookery demonstration of recipes from Fiona Uyema’s excellent cookery book “Japanese Food Made Easy” and a Japanese wine tasting with one of Ireland’s leading experts in Sake, Joe Moore.
Japanese food is taking over Ireland at the moment! It seems we can’t get enough of it, but for the most part it is a cuisine that is rarely cooked in the home. There is a perception maybe that there is a certain amount of precision required to create these flavours; a disciplined cuisine that can only be experienced when dining out. You couldn’t be more wrong!
In 2015, Fiona Uyema released her home-cooking manual for Japanese food that lifted the lid off of the mystery surrounding this cuisine and showed us that this is indeed food that can be cooked in the home using easily accessible ingredients.
In addition, Joe Moore, Sake expert from Galway and self-confessed “sinnichi” (aka Japanophile) will be joining us to take us through a journey of Sake complete with tastings of two hand selected Sake brought back from a recent trip to Japan.
Taking place on Thursday 10th November at The Celtic Ross Hotel in Rosscarbery, the event will include a cookery demonstration by Fiona Uyema; a Japanese sake explanation and tasting by Joe Moore and a buffet style meal for all attendees.
Places are limited so pre-booking is essential. The event is €45 per head inclusive of the buffet style meal, sake tasting and notes.
