Vietnamese football becomes Gangwon ambassador
On Feb. 23, Luong Xuan Truong, a 22-year-old soccer player from Vietnam, was appointed as an honorary ambassador for the Korean province of Gangwon-do.

In December 2015, Truong joined Incheon United on a two-year deal, on loan from the Hoang AnhGia Lai FC (HAGL) in Vietnam. He was the first Vietnamese national to play in the K League, the professional Korean football league. He has played in four matches and spent most of the season on the bench.
Last December, Truong ended his contract with Incheon United and joined the Gangwon FC. Gangwon is now led by HAGL's former head coach Choi Yun-kyum. Choi was at the helm of HAGL from 2011 to 2014. That's the reason why Vietnamese fans hope that Truong will have more time on the pitch.
Truong is a product of HAGL’s academy and was also captain of Vietnam's U-19 squad. He's known as one of the top soccer players in Vietnam, and is called the “Vietnamese Park Ji-sung.” He won the Most Favored Player award from the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in January 2017.
